Tohei’s Jo Ki exercise. Ideo motor effect apparent. Highlights the type of grip which is most effective.

7th ken suburi not stepping but hips for both speed and power. Ken kamae to tsuki kamae. Not always the hip that is obvious. Seeing is not seeing. Centering always remains of value.

Tachi dori, an irimi version repeating the idea of empty force. Once again mind is so important. Soft shoulder gives no message. Helter skelter idea, locating balance point. Importance of precision in posture and mind. Never add strength, it is counter productive.

Jo nage… even going to blocking point. How to resolve blocking point. Distance self from contact point and move something other than hands and arms. In this case hips. (around your own centre)

IF TIME ONLY Use of body through the Jo – parry to face move. Effortless power. Light touch doing nothing but everything is done. no time .
Closing down – any solo Jo moves but carried out with Jo alignment as a priority … the only reason for doing this exercise.
(consider ki of jo runs in line with wood grain as all objects have energy!)
All strikes are actually cuts. (which makes sense of harmony with jo)
